treocin says:

actually rather than work on shutter you can work on the light. Canon flashes burst about 1/19 000 of a second much faster than any DSLR camera, so just leave the exposure for long time have 2 flashes and trigger them with pocket wizard or something like that.. of course in complete darkness

I’m going to have some kids over this weekend, and I’m going to try this…. I don’t have the lights, or the sheet, but I’ll make it happen…LOL You can tell the people who LOVE photography from those just out to make a buck. You share your gifts. So do I. That’s really what counts in the end… Thank you.

amazing… 😀

tomepperson1 says:

Just imagine how much better this would have been using high speed flash and a leaf shutter lens. Profoto B4 ( 1/25,000 of a second) plus a leaf shutter lens would rock this image.

What metering mode is recommend for taking these kind of pictures?

Thank you so much.

Me encantó!!!!! 😀 Gracias!

jonnyfilmboy says:

Some speedlights will let you shoot high speed stuff like this. The Nikon SB-800 has a few different high speed capabilities. One of the options is to enter in the frequency of the flashes, and you can actually get multiple exposures in the same shot using your flash. I did that with smoke to get 7 different shots of smoke bending in the same image.

Hi, are you familiar with “Photo SFXart Tricks” (just google it)? There you will find a useful free video explaining the right way to make brilliant photographs. It helped Matt to create photos which leave you with that jaw-dropping-effect whenever you take a look at them. It might help you out too.

oldguyrich57 says:

you couldn’t get continuous shots with a flash- it have to recharge. I tried his setup with an XSI and clamp lights I got from menards, and it worked perfectly. Thanks

monicasargious says:

That’s amazing! Will definitely try it out 🙂

puiselo says:

why couldn’t you do it??
even the cheapest cameras can go up to 1/4000
